By Percentage

Assume that your customer has negotiated a special discount of 10%, because he or she is paying cash. Just click on the Discount icon, and the Discount screen appears. Now, either click on the 10% discount icon or input the percentage. The sale will be recalculated to include the discount.

By Value.

Say that, instead of a 10 % discount, you want to give a discount equal to a fixed sum. Posterita gives you the option to reduce the sale amount. Just input the discount amount.

By Order Line

What if your customer has an item in the shopping cart that should be reduced because it was a demo or damaged? The right way is to apply a discount only on the markdown item, not on the total sales value - or you'd introduce erroneous and misleading information into the system. That's why Posterita allows you to specify a discount in percent or value. All you have to do is select the item and enter the discount either as a percentage or a fixed value.

Prevents discount misuse

Since erroneous discounts can have a negative impact on your profitability, Posterita provides control mechanisms to prevent errors, misuse or even abuse.

If an employee exceeds the discount percentage he's authorized to give, Posterita prevents him from completing the sale.

What about if one of your employees tries to give a discount within the allowed discount range but it's on a product that is already on sale? With Posterita, you can set a policy rule where the price after rebates cannot be inferior to the price at which the item was bought - even if the discount falls within the authorized amount.

In certain situations, these controls can be overridden by a manager. For instance, when he needs to give a gift or a discount on a demo product.

He can perform the task without being redirected to another screen. He simply uses the Change Pin function to log into the cash screen and overrides the discount controls that are in place.

Print discounts given on the receipt

In Posterita we support the original price and the current price. Let's say the original price is $20 but the current price is marked down to $10. Posterita keeps a record of the original price. Only the current price goes down. So Posterita can automatically display the discount on the receipt.
